  • Paper Airplane Debuts at #3 on Billboard Top 200; #1 on Country and Bluegrass Charts

    Last week saw the release of the hugely anticipated Paper Airplane (Rounder Records), the first album from Alison Krauss & Union Station in seven years. The band's sixth full length album was met with universal critical acclaim and a busy release week brought them to New York City where they performed the album's title track on The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS and The Today Show on NBC, as well as a 3-song performance on NPR affiliate station WNYC's Soundcheck.

    Chart information released today confirms that Paper Airplane has entered the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #3. This is the band's first debut in the Top 5. The album is also #1 on the Bluegrass Albums Chart and #1 on the Country Albums Chart - a rare feat for an album not in rotation at country radio. Paper Airplane also debuted at a career best of #11 in the UK's Top 40 Album Charts.

    Alison Krauss & Union Station are headed to the west coast for appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 25th at 11:35/10:35 CT and The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 27th at 4p/3p CT.

  • Alison Krauss & Union Station's 'Paper Airplane' In Stores NOW



    Today Alison Krauss & Union Station have released their new album, Paper Airplane – Alison's 14th album and the band's follow-up to 2004's triple GRAMMY Award-winning Lonely Runs Both Ways.

    A deluxe edition of Paper Airplane is being offered exclusively at Target retail stores nationwide and on Target.com.

    The Target deluxe edition features six additional songs, including three exclusive studio songs – "These Days" and "A Place Outside," both written by Angel Snow and Krauss' brother, Viktor Krauss; and "Frozen Fields," composed by Jeff Black and Jon Randall. Three bonus tracks also available on the album include Krauss and her band performing live versions of "We Hide & Seek," "Faraway Land" and "Every Time You Say Goodbye."

    Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas are set to criss-cross the country this summer on a nationwide tour eventually taking them to over 50 cities. It has been several years since Alison Krauss along with Union Station band members Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin and lead vocals), Barry Bales (bass and harmony vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar and harmony vocals), and Jerry Douglas (Dobro and harmony vocals) toured together. Their last go around saw raves from critics who witnessed "Krauss and Union Station induce awe with their musical virtuosity...pangs of heartache with their ballads of disillusionment and, most significantly, the giddiness that results from hearing a familiar tune played well." (Chicago Sun Times) It is with great pleasure that they announce their live return with a nationwide tour, set to kick off in Louisville, KY on June 4th.
