'Chronicles of a Culture Man' is an upcoming CD written from the visions of an inspired Jamaican musician Andy Vernon. Andy is a simple man driven to sing out against injustices that plague our society and keep people oppressed and discouraged. His music attempts to touch the souls and open the eyes of listeners to the world as it is today. His lyrics are simple but true. His philosophy, "never bow" (never give up) speaks of his perseverance and patience in seeing his music and this album completed. Andy grew up listening to groups such as Aswad, Third World, Steel Pulse, Chalice, and Bob Marley, hence his love for live music. An accomplished singer/guitarist/songwriter, he plays keyboards, bass and percussion as well. He also arranges and produces most of his songs. His performances on Reggae Sumfest, Rebel Salute and Jamaica Jazz & Blues among other shows are to be mentioned. Andy Vernon's music transcends all boundaries of race, class, and religion. His "Pray for Justice" tells of many unspeakable atrocities being endured by everyday people. "I cry for the innocent and pray their souls to keep, and I plead to the wicked…Let us live in Peace" he sings. His interpretation of Beres Hammond's "Irie and Mellow" shows his versatility and another side to those who may think he only sings about truths and rights. "Culture Man" the title track on his upcoming CD says "Once you're a good man, no matter your religion, Jah will give you guidance, and lead you to Mt. Zion". His new single "Waiting" on the Bird's Eye Riddim (a J-Vibe/Cyclone Production) is a feel good grooving reggae love song. "I believe I have been handed a gift of talent and passion for music and I must use this gift wisely. I will not take the credit, for I believe that it is through the will of a Higher Power that I am able to spread His word." Andy Vernon, the 'Culture Man', attempts to use his lyrics to give hope and faith, to force the powers that be to find a remedy to end the troubles.
