Born from the depths of the inner city streets, East LA Sabor Factory was formed in 1998 while the musicians were still attending Woodrow Wilson High School in Los Angeles. From high school talent shows to back yard barbeques to local community benefits, East LA Sabor Factory began to make their mark on the city and community that brought them together. ----------------------------------------------- East LA Sabor Factory released a four song, self titled and self produced EP while still attending high school. This fresh new sound had an impact from the moment the group hit the scene. The band's live shows started to create a buzz in the local circuit and they quickly became well known for their overwhelming energy and ability to move crowds of all ages. News of their recording began to spread like wild fire and within two weeks of their underground release, the band had completely sold out of copies of their first recording, making the four-song EP an instant classic. The band's sound soon caught the attention of local radio host Mark Torres. Amazed by Inner Citys musical talents and the message in their music, Torres felt he had literally found a gem in the rough. In December of 1999, East LA Sabor Factory made their radio debut on KPFK's (90.7fm) Travel Tip's For Aztlan with a live in studio performance. ----------------------------------------------- In the fall of 2000, East LA Sabor Factory conjured up their creative forces and collaborated with producer and former Oingo Boingo bassist John Avila to co-produce the record Party At Louie's, a follow up to the previous recording. East LA Sabor Factory launched the new recording with a sold out CD release concert properly held in East Los Angeles. ----------------------------------------------- Hungry from the last release, fans came out to support and experience the new music that had been composed. The band performed to an intimate sold out audience of four hundred people in a three hundred max-capacity venue. After selling four hundred copies of the new underground release the first night it hit the streets, three years later, East LA Sabor Factory went on to sell 4,000 copies while touring throughout California. This record further showcased the talent and abilities possessed by them. ----------------------------------------------- On August 24, 2003, East LA Sabor Factory decided on a name change to Inner City Soul. They did this to better identify with people of all urban areas and not just those in East Los Angeles which they hold dearly.
