While Little River Band began in Australia as most of you fans are well aware, a great portion of our success and continued work remains in the United States. Most of our latter day personnel are either American or proud possessors of green cards residing in the U.S. So, therefore it is with great pleasure that we take a few moments to give thanks in keeping with today.
.. ..
First, some appreciation to our proud history. Through almost 35 years, many great individuals have contributed their unique musical and technical ability to the creation and continuation of LRB. Every time we take the stage, we current members carry this legacy with honor and great appreciation for the investment so many have made into what Little River Band represents. Our corporate effort from beginning to date has provided entertainment for literally millions of people around the globe. That feat is something for all of us, past and present to be proud of and we’re grateful for the opportunity to continue to contribute to that history.
.. ..
Now for a quick primer on what it takes to stage a rock band successfully. Most fans would be seriously amazed at all the cooperative effort and work that goes on behind the scenes long before the lights goes down and the intro music cues. A big nod goes to Steve, Mark and all our friends at Artist International Management. These guys keep us working 85 to 100 days a year. For a band who’s last radio hit was in the 80’s, that’s a serious feat and we’re thankful for their effort. Without the talent buyers, entertainment directors, fair boards, event planners and all of the various people interested in bringing LRB to their event, the AIM guys would be staring at the phones a lot. So, we thank you talent buyers for considering us for your clients we thank you for maintaining the relationship us through all these great years. Buyers respond to the demand from their patrons. Nothing keeps those patrons aware of our music like all the many radio stations that keep our songs on the playlist. For example, one of our songs, “Reminiscing” has played over 5 millions times. Someone has to put it on the playlist and then someone has to hit play. That’s a lot of button pressing! So our pilgrim hats are off to all the program directors and DJ’s who have been faithful to keep our music on the air.
.. ..
Now to the organization itself. A successful touring band is a mysterious composite of the various skills and talents of each person who steps onto the plane, train or 45 foot house trailer on wheels. There is really no top to bottom in a real sense. On any given night, we succeed together or we fail together. If you ask around behind the curtains around the country, you'll find out that our crew is one of the most professional and proficient in the business. They are the first to arrive and the last to leave. They do it tirelessly and often in the worst of conditions. Their skill is the only consistent thing that we can rely on each night, and rest assured, it’s their show just as much as it is ours. If you hear us from down beat to the bow, you can thank Jim Wakefield, our front of house engineer. If we sing in tune and come close to playing the right notes, you can thank Steve Kimbrough, our monitor engineer off to the side of our stage. If you can see us, you can thank Pat Whitwam, out lighting director. If our guitars are in tune and have strings, you can thank Joey Crawford, our brand new guitar tech. All of these guys do their jobs creatively and resourcefully and there is no real adequate way to tell say how much we appreciate and value their commitment. We are proud to have them in our family.
.. ..
We are also so extremely thankful for our families and friends who support us and sustain us while we are out living our dreams. They live the day to day back home while we travel from town to town and enjoy your accolades. But they keep us grounded and give us an endearing reason to sustain through some of the less glamorous times that are part of the roadlife. We love you and look forward to these holidays with you.
.. ..
Now finally, we want to take an opportunity to thank you fans. Without you, there would be no touring, no booking, no radio play, no crew and our families would be getting tired of us sitting around the house. You have kept us going for almost 35 years. Many of you have been there from the start while many of you have grown up listening to our music. This is a mysterious privilege that you given us and we never want to take it for granted. As we sit in our warm parlors surrounded by friends and family, hear our sincere gratitude and appreciation for each of you for giving us the continuing opportunity to entertain you.
.. ..
Enjoy your thankgiving! Eat, drink and be merry with those you love!

Little River Band....

a wonderful blog to read, really. First of all one could say that Little River Band (LRB), with so many years of history and still making history, can be considered more than A Band..it's more of an Institute. Also, I can fully comprehend that most fans don't realize how much work is put in by so many others, behind the scenes, so that a band can put in a great performance. So in this context, I am delighted to know that you guys want to share the family-feeling with them and let us know about it. Hope you'll be around for a long long time!!
And thank you for the songs that have been the backdrop to many, many happy times.
You're sincerely welcome. It's been awhile! I'll have to catch up with you all sometime soon...Now, back to my food coma....
Thanks for writing this and putting everything into perspective.
Sandy
