My heart is full of grief for his family and his children and I pray that they take solace in the incredible legacy of his music and art."

David Foster and Diane Warren on Whitney & her new album;
Bringing Whitney Houston Back by Parade.com 3/4/09
Move over Britney, Whitney Houston is ready to take the title of comeback queen. And David Foster, the legendary hit-maker for stars ranging from Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion to Madonna and Michael Jackson, is finally talking about his reunion with the superstar. Foster collaborated with Houston on the blockbuster soundtrack single "I Will Always Love You." He knows fans are wondering if she's ready to resume her hugely successful career after years battling her personal demons.
Q: You and Whitney are finally together again. How is she doing?
David Foster: I was in the studio with her last week. She's in great shape and she looks good. We have this fantastic song that Diane Warren wrote and we went in and recorded it. It went really well. Her work ethic was exactly the way it was when we did the song for The Bodyguard. She worked incredibly hard for two nights and we came up with something really good.
Q: Whitney has been through some tough times.
Do you think she has her life and career back on track?
DF: I think she's going to have a great album out within the year. Whitney is a girl that everybody would like to see come back and, in this case, it really would be a comeback. A lot of people say, 'Come back? I never left.' But Whitney did leave and she hasn't recorded in about 10 years, I believe. So this truly would be a comeback.
Songwriter Diane Warren had something to say about the the song she wrote for Houston.
Q: What's the song about, Diane?
Diane Warren: I don't usually write music with someone in mind. But I set out to write this song specifically for Whitney and it's called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." It definitely touches on her life, but I think a lot of people will relate to it because they've gone through hard times too.
Q: How was her performance?
DW: I was praying that Whitney was going to be able to nail it and she exceeded my expectations. She sang the s*** out of that song. Seriously, it was amazing. I'll tell you something, Whitney is back. Let there be no doubt.

Whitney Houston makes stirring comeback;
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - A stunning-looking and strong-sounding Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the stage at a pre-Grammy party honoring her mentor, music mogul Clive Davis. "I've got it, I've got it!" Houston, looking glamorous in a skintight leopard dress, sang early Sunday morning as she belted a line from one of her classic hits, "I'm Every Woman." But more than a lyric, it summarized to the crowd of A-list superstars and top industry execs that the superstar — whose drug use and erratic behavior had caused a shocking fall from grace just a few years ago — was back in top form. "We all crossed our fingers that her beautiful story would end (happily)," said Jamie Foxx, who stood at the front of the stage and took video of Houston like he was just another fan in the crowd. "This is a new beginning." [msnbc.com]

Whitney did great as expected! Also new pics from the evnt;
Whitney: Clean, Sober and Soaring; Whitney Houston is back. Last night she took the stage at Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy bash and wowed the crowd with a medley of hits. She was clean, sober, and joyous, absolutely radiant and healthy. Houston knew it was a triumph and she gained confidence as she went from her opening ballad—a shortened version of “I Will Always Love You” through a few of her hits ending with a buoyant “I’m Every Woman.” If there was a fear that her voice was gone, she dispelled it. And while she may not be singing the way she did at 25, the 45 year old is still among the very premiere song stylists in the world.

More pre-Grammy reports. Looks like this is the performance to set it off;
There should be a couple of those, anyway, in the hyperbole department, because tomorrow night’s other emotion-filled appearance will be by Whitney Houston. Yesterday the band – with a lot of Houston’s regular musicians—rehearsed a couple of her songs including “I’m Every Woman.” Houston was seen late in the afternoon checking out the stage and the ballroom; she has her own private rehearsal set to go, and a triumphant return performance lined up for tomorrow night. [FOXNEWS ] Will Grammy weekend bring the triumphant return of Whitney Houston? Word is R&B veteran Whitney Houston will perform new songs at Saturday night’s pre-Grammy party hosted by Clive Davis. Of course, that rumor has been spread in previous years, too, but MTV reported that Houston was rehearsing Thursday night. What's more, the New York Post is hinting that Houston’s new album could be released as early as March. Regardless of what she performs, Pop & Hiss will have a report from the party, and expect Houston’s appearance to dominate the pre-Grammy talk. [LA TIMES]

It's official! Whitney WILL be performing at the pre-Grammy party;
Beverly Hills, California; Every year on Grammy Awards weekend, Clive Davis puts his stamp on the artist he feels will be the next blue-chip performer under his wing. The nod has become almost as important as winning a Grammy itself. This year, however, Davis' biggest splash will be an act he discovered decades ago: Whitney Houston. She's rehearsing around 9 p.m. tonight," Davis said on Thursday afternoon, during practices for his legendary extravaganza at the Beverly Hilton. The music mogul — who has been Houston's godfather figure as much as he has been one of the people guiding her career — hinted that Grammy-winning singer would have product in the marketplace sooner than we expect. "You wait for the great songs to be written," Davis said about the long-awaited comeback album from one of his most prized prodigies. "The great hits Whitney has given to the public for so many years — you keep encouraging and setting the bar. R. Kelly and Whitney just went into the studio with a great song called 'I Look to You.' "The same way her debut album took a while to put together, you just don't do it by going into a computer. You wait for the material to justify a new album," he added. "Pretty much, it's come in." Davis said that Houston is going into the lab with hitmaker David Foster next week to record a ballad called "I Didn't Know My Own Strength."

Mini Whitney Bio;
With over 170 million combined album, singles, and video sales, Whitney Houston has established a benchmark for superstardom that will quite simply never be eclipsed in the modern era. She is a singer's singer who has influenced countless other vocalists. Born into a musical family on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey, Whitney's success might've been foretold. Whitney's iconic mother and cousins nurtured her passion for gospel music since birth. As a teenager, Whitney modeled and appeared on many album credits. In 1983 Clive Davis was taken to a New York nightclub where Whitney was performing, and signed her on the spot. Two years went into the making of her debut album, but the results were worth it. The self-titled album Whitney Houston launched in March of 1985, and set the record as the biggest selling debut album by a solo artist. Her highly anticipated follow up album Whitney was released in June 1987. She made history as the first female artist to enter the Billboard album charts at #1. The album soared past 9x-platinum and established Whitney as the only artist ever to have seven consecutive #1 hits. True to her church upbringing, the Whitney Houston Foundation For Children Inc. was established in 1989 as a non-profit organization that cares for children in need. I'm Your Baby Tonight her third album was later released in November 1990, and displayed her versatility. With back-to-back #1 hits, sales records were set once again. Whitney finally made her movie debut in The Bodyguard which opened November 1992. The film not only broke box office records worldwide but was ultimately responsible for the biggest selling motion picture soundtrack album of all time. The soundtrack has sold more than 42-million copies world wide and gone 17-times platinum. Film work continued with Waiting To Exhale which opened December 1995. The soundtrack spent five weeks at #1, and was certified 7x-platinum. Whitney's third motion picture The Preacher's Wife which opened in December 1996. The gospel-soaked soundtrack became the biggest-selling gospel album in Billboard chart history. Whitney added to her list of accomplishments when Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella aired in November 1997. Whitney starred as the Fairy Godmotherher, and her company, BrownHouse Productions, served as executive producers on the project. Which garnered seven Emmy nominations, and shattered several records. The next year the album My Love Is Your Love was released. The album brought a string of gold and platinum chart hit singles. In late-June, "It's Not Right But It's Okay" became the 17th Top 5 pop hit of her career. In March 2000, Whitney was named Female Artist Of the Decade at the "Soul Train" Music Awards and in the midst of the 15th anniversary of her career she released Whitney, The Greatest Hits. Two years later in December of 2002 she released Just Whitney, her fifth studio album and first for the new millennium. Which she followed up a year later with, One Wish, her first holiday album, and the last album she has released to date. In 2006 The Guinness Book Of World Records awarded Whitney as music's "most awarded female artist of all time," with an amazing tally of 411 awards, as of 2006. Whitney has stirred up a lot of controversy in the past years but her divorce from husband of over 14 years, musician Bobby Brown, in 2006 has helped to put her back on the right track. Since then she has been working on her long awaited “comeback” album which is expected to be released sometime in 2009.
