Carrie Underwood’s fourth album, Blown Away, has landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 this week. The disc sold 267,000 copies, making it the second-largest arrival of any album in 2012 (only Madonna’s No. 1 MDNA sold more first week).

This is the third time Underwood has scored a No. 1 album, following 2007’s Carnival Ride (527,000 first week) and 2009’s Play On (318,000). This makes the singer the third woman to take three country albums to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 ever. Which is pretty impressive. The only other two singers to do so are Linda Ronstadt and Faith Hill (get on your game, Taylor Swift!).

Coming in at No. 2 this week is Norah Jones new disc, Little Broken Hearts, which sold 110,000 copies. This is Jones’ fifth album and her fifth album to reach the top three on the Billboard Top 200, which means that, at this point, everyone in America owns at least one Norah Jones album. The No. 3 spot goes to the Now 42 compilation while Adele’s long-running 21 only lands at No. 4. Oh, Adele, your reign couldn’t last forever!

Another significant development in album sales this week is the increased amount of Beastie Boys discs being purchased following last week’s passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch. The group’s seminal 1986 album Licensed To Ill shot back up into the Top 20 this week, securing the No. 18 spot with 19,000 copies sold. The disc originally made it to No. 1 in 1987 where it held the top slot for seven weeks. Collectively, the Beastie Boys’ back catalogue sold 55,000 copies in the past week, which is a 1,235 percent increase from the previous week. This is notable because it only represents two days worth of sales so it is likely that there will be an even greater spike next week.
